PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and heat and light stability by incorporating a specified tetrakisazo compd. CONSTITUTION:A carrier generating layer 2 formed on a conductive substrate 1 is composed essentially of a tetrakisazo compd. represented by formula I in which X1-X4 are each H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy; A is formula II, III, or IV; in formula II Y is carbamoyl or sulfamoyl; Z is an atomic group necessary to form an aromatic carbon or hetero ring; in formula III, R1 is H, 1-4C lower alkyl, amino, carboxy, its ester, carbamoly, or cyano; R2 is an aromatic carbon ring group; and in formula IV, R3 is 1-4C alkyl, aralkyl, or an aromatic carbon ring group. A photosensitive layer 4 is formed by laminating a carrier transfer layer 3 composed essentially of a carrier transfer material on said carrier genarating layer 2. As a result, the obtained electrophotographic sensitive body is stable against heat and light, superior in electrostatic charging characteristics, sensitivity, residual potential, etc., and sufficiently high in sensitivity to a long wavelength light source. |
