The invention concerns a cable drawing device and a cable drawing support for drawing and installing an overhead power line, in particular overhead transmission wires. The device comprises a body with two parallel halves 1 or branches, at least one running wheel 2 mounted in bearings between the body halves 1 or branches and at least one set of clamp jaws 8 which can be pressed against the conductor in order to lock the conductor in relation to the body. In the part of the body situated opposite the running wheel 2 and provided with suspension devices 4 the space between the halves 1 or branches is open or can be opened. The wire is arranged to be pressed between two clamp jaws 8 of which at least one is arranged to move in an opening 7 or recess in the body half 1 or branch, whereby the space between the body halves 1 or branches is open or can be opened also in the area between the clamp jaws. In this way the wire can also be threaded at the middle area between the body halves 1 or branches to the support of the running wheel. <IMAGE>
