PURPOSE:To shorten the waiting time of a receiving side, to quicken the recognition of a transmission image, and to quickly execute the image communication by reading out an image signal of only an area designated arbitrarily from a memory, in one frame to be transmitted which is accumulated in a frame memory for display, and sending its signal to a signal processing part. CONSTITUTION:Before transmitting, for instance, a color natural image having a very large image information quantity to an image communication equipment of the other party, a prescribed area is designated by an area designating part 11, and only an image of a designated area is transmitted. That is, first of all, with respect to an image displayed on an image output part 5a o an image communication equipment 10a of a transmitting side, a user side designates a transmission area by operating a mouse of an area designating part 11a. Thereafter, position information on an image of the designated area is sent to a frame memory 4a for display, and only an image signal of the designated area is sent to a signal processing part 6a together with an area signal from the area designating part 11. The processing 6a encodes the received image signal, and sends it to a transfer part 7b of the other party device through a transmission line 2 from a transmission part 7a. |
