PURPOSE:To similarly constitute contracting processing and expanding processing and to simplify the whole constitution by expanding an image up to the maximum scale factor, and then executing thinning processing to obtain a prescribed variable power image pattern. CONSTITUTION:The image pattern conversion system is provided with maximum variable power means 20, 21 for expanding an input image pattern at the maximum variable power ratio to be an integer in the variable power direction and thinning variable power means 23, 24, 30 to 35 for obtaining image patterns varied at its power by thinning the data of the image pattern temporarily expanded up to the maximum scale factor in accordance with an inputted and instructed variable power ratio. When the image data are picture element data having gradation, the means 23, 24, 30 to 35 find out the average between the picture element data to be thinned and the preceding or succeeding picture element data of the current data to reflect the gradation information of the picture element data to be thinned to other picture element data. Consequently, expanding and contracting processing can be executed by the same structure and the generation of unnecessary stripes or the like due to so-called thin line lacking or thinned picture elements can be prevented. |
