PURPOSE:To accurately detect whether leakage through a sterilizing vessel occurs by a method wherein in prior to a sterilizing work, compressed air is fed in the sterilizing vessel, a relation between s pressure in the sterilizing vessel and an elapsing time is determined, and when the degree of reduction of the pressure to the elapsing time exceeds a given value, it is decided that leakage occurs. CONSTITUTION:In prior to the starting of a sterilizing work, compressed air is fed in a sterilizing vessel 1. The compressed air is fed by a proper compressed air feeding means, e.g. compressors. The degree of the increase of a pressure in the sterilizing vessel 1 by means of the compressed air is set to the same value, e.g. 0.7kg/cm<2>, as that of the increase of a pressure in the sterilizing vessel 1 by means of sterilizing gas during a sterilizing work. Based on a signal from a pressure sensor mounted in the sterilizing vessel 1, a controller determines a relation between a pressure in the sterilizing vessel 1 and an elapsing time is determined. When the degree of the reduction, of the pressure in the sterilizing vessel 1 to the elapsing time exceeds a specified value, it is decided that leakage occurs, an alarm is generated, and a sterilizer stops the starting of a sterilizing work. |
