<p>A pair of integrated water propulsion and hydrofoil systems (20) capable of moving through water at speeds of at least 20 miles per hour are disclosed. Each having a hydrofoil (26) and a mounting leg (28) removably secured to a water propulsion system (30), the mounting legs (28) being supported on opposite sides of the watercraft for moving hydrofoils (26) between a water mode and a land mode. The water propulsion system (30) may be an inline water jet, and the hydrofoils (26) may be formed from interconnected lightweight hollow beams (62) with power operated flaps (86) on the trailing portions of the hydrofoils (26) for adding more lift when moving at slow speeds through water. The watercraft (24) may be a military amphibious vehicle weighing about 30 tons.</p> |
