UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN COMPOSITION WITH LOW SHRINKAGE

PURPOSE:To inhibit the chalking during curing by mixing and compatibilizing an unsatd. polyester resin with a satd. polyester incompatible with said unsatd. polyester resin in the presence of a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:45 to 95wt.% unsatd. polyester resin obtd. by reacting an acid component contg. an unsatd. acid with a polyhydric alcohol component and dissolving the formed unsatd. polyester in 20 to 60wt.% crosslinking monomer is mixed, in the presence of 5 to 25wt.% mono- or diester of maleic or fumaric acid (e.g. monoethyl maleate), with 5 to 30wt.% satd. polyester which is otherwise incompatible with said unsatd. polyester resin and is obtd. by reacting a satd. acid with a polyhydric alcohol. Thus said unsatd. polyester resin is compatibilized with said satd. polyester.
