(A) Bioabsorbable moulded articles producible by thermoplastic deformation are based on a lactide polymer (I) and have an inherent viscosity (iV) of 0.8-4.5 dl/g (measured in CHCl3 at 25 deg C), an initial tensile strength (TS) of at least 45 N/mm2 and an initial bending strength (BS) of at least 90 N/mm2, where the strength after implantation for 8 weeks is at least 75% of the initial value, provided that the articles do not comprise pure poly-L-lactide. (B) Bioabsorbable moulded articles based on lactide homo-or copolymers contain a bioabsorbable high-molecular-wt. polyester (II) as an additive in an amt. sufficient to increase TS and breaking elongation.
