<p>A decorative bow is manufactured from sheet material which has been formed into a patterned band (12a) having a closed contour, which band is shaped so as to be symmetrical about a plane (P) containing the axis of the band. This patterned band (12a) is then collapsed or flattened generally diametrically along the plane (P), after which it is gathered by being compressed generally axially along the plane (P). The collapsed and gathered band (12a) is then bound or otherwise fixed at its center to form the finished bow. In a preferred embodiment of the method, the patterned band (12a) is formed by flattening a cylindrical sheath (10) of sheet material generally parallel to the plane and punching or cutting a pattern onto it.</p> |
