PURPOSE:To prevent a printing head from becoming useless during printing operation by making it possible to replace the printing head and an ink cartridge independently, and at the same time, reducing the number of cartridge replacements for a single printing head beyond the limit of the expected number during the life of the head. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 4 for printing outlives the total life of three replacement ink cartridges 7 and this cartridge is installed on a carriage 5 so that it can be replaced. Ink is discharged to printing paper 3 from the ink cartridge 7. The second ink flow path 11 and a sleeve 13 for the limitation of the number of replacements are provided on the head 4, and the first ink flow path 10, a pin installation part 14 and a pin 12 are provided on the ink cartridge 7. The inner diameter of the second ink flow path 11 and the sleeve 13 are larger than the outer diameter of the first ink flow path 10 and the pin 12. The ink cartridge 7 is installed on the printing head 4 with the first ink flow path 10 and the pin 12 pressed in the second ink flow path 10 and the sleeve 13. The sleeve 13 is formed using a transparent material and the height of the hollow part is three times that of the pin 12. |
