PURPOSE:To obtain the resin compsn. for development having excellent fixability and offset resistance as well as durability by using a polymer which has a specific mol. wt. distribution and has a polar group capable of forming an ionic crosslinking bond in the range thereof as a resin comps. component. CONSTITUTION:The resin compsn. is constituted by incorporating the polymer in which the chromatogram measured by gel permeation chromatography has the single max. value in the mol. wt. region of 5X10<3> to 2X10<5>mol. wt. and has the polar group capable of forming the ionic crosslinkable bond only in the region on the side of the mol. wt. substantially higher than this max. value as the resin compsn. component therein. The resin compsn. component is a styrene polymer and the group capable of forming the ionic crosslinkable bond is, for example, a carboxyl group and is obtd. by adding monobutyl ester of maleic acid at 0.1 to 5wt.% of the total amt. of the monomer for copolymn. exclusive of this ester and copolymerizing the same. The resin compsn. for electrophotographic development which is excellent in desired characteristics is obtd. in this way.
