RESISTANCE WELDING METHOD FOR DIAGONALLY INTERSECTING PIPES

PURPOSE:To improve welding strength in resistance-welding the other pipe diagonally to the side surface of one pipe by expanding the obtuse angle sides of the butt end faces toward the outer side thereby eleiminating getting-out of the pipe end edge. CONSTITUTION:One side 2a on the obtuse angle side in the butt end part of a pipe blank material for a main pipe 2 is expanded outward so that the end face of the pipe assumes roughly an elliptical shape. The end surface to be butted to an inclined pipe 1 shown by the alternate long and two short dashes line A passing the shoulder part of the expanded part 2a is formed. The pipe 1 is mounted to an upper electrode and the pipe 2 to a lower electrode. The pipe 1 and the pipe 2 are butted to each other and a voltage is applied thereto under press contacting whereby these pipes are welded.
