A joint for detachable tooth prostheses has on a primary part, which is firmly joined to an anchor tooth, a secondary part allocated to the prosthesis. Both are joined by an element, inserted in a cross bore. The chewing pressure is transferred from secondary to the primary part. To facilitate the separation of this joint, a collet is pushed in the cross bore; it is made of an Ni-Ti alloy with a two-way memory effect which is converted to austenite in the high-temperature phase (body temperature) and to martensite (a slight shrinkage) at a 10 deg. lower temp. A plastic mastic is used to close the cross bore. ADVANTAGE - This prosthesis is extractable by a skilled dentist and keeps the chewing pressure away from the anchorage.
