The external temp. sensor has a sensor element (3) which responds to ambient temp. mounted in a thermally insulated (9) tubular body (2) for installation in the vehicle in the direction of travel. The annular gap (5) between the sensor element and the inner wall of the tubular body is open in the direction of travel. At least one air outlet channel (7) penetrating the wall of the body communicates with the gap laterally and near its end. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in motor vehicles. Generates signal faithfully representing external temp. at least during and after short stops.
