A bearing support system providing axial thrust load control of bearings supporting a rotating element, by retaining the bearings with a slotted inner ring (1) and supporting the inner ring (1) with a radially spaced outer ring (5) by means of a plurality of circumferentially spaced supports (3) which are radially stiff but axially flexible.
