PURPOSE: To obtain a rotary catheter device for eliminating an atheromatous artery- obstructed substance, capable of inserting into an artery along a flexible guide wire by providing the device with the torque restricting clutch means of cutting and eliminating an obstructed substance, at the same time preventing the injury of an arterial system. CONSTITUTION: The first torque restricting clutch 18 is provided between the base end portion 19 and the tip end portion 20 of a flexible and rotary catheter. A frictional coupling is formed by the first clutch 18 between two portions by inserting the base end of the tip end portion 20 into the tip end portion of the base end portion 19, and the capability of the clutch 18 restricts the torque up to the constantly allowable value by the structure that clutch is slipped with the torque exceeds the capability, and then the torque of being transmitted to the end of the clutch is also restricted, thus the tip end portion is protected from a damage causing by that a larger torque is intermittently transmitted into the base end of the portion 19. A lock stopping ring 24 formed in the portion 20 to be inserted into a corresponding groove 24' demarcated by the portion 19 will prevent a relatively longitudinal displacement between these portions, and will allow to rotate each other when the clutch is slipped. |
