A method for widening a flow by means of a diffuser device provides for generation of two vortexes at the periphery of the flow and for extracting a part of the main flow from each generated joint vortex, said two parts totalling 3-9 per cent of the main flow rate. A diffuser device for implementing the method comprises an annular wall (1) with a central opening (2), a sleeve (3) adjoining the annular wall (1), annular partitions (4) and (5) secured consecutively behind the annular wall (1) on the sleeve (3), a conical sleeve (10) secured to the annular partition (5), the internal diameter of the annular partition being larger than that of the central opening (2) and smaller than the internal diameter of the central partition (5). A first vortex chamber (6) is located between the annular wall (1) and the annular partition (4), whereas the second vortex chamber (7) is located between the annular partitions (4) and (5), whereas the walls of both chambers (6) and (7) are provided with openings (8) and (9), correspondingly, for extracting the gas from the vortex chambers (6) and (7).
