<p>The invention relates to a process for treating brines and contaminated mineral salts or mixtures thereof, in which (a) most of the organic constituents are removed from the process mixture; (b) the resultant mixture undergoes vacuum evaporation; (c) the partially dried mineral salts or mixtures thereof are heat treated at elevated temperatures, and then pure, dried mineral salts or mixtures thereof are recovered; (d) the vapour from the vacuum evaporation step is condensed and undergoes reverse osmosis; and pure water is recovered as the permeate of the reverse osmosis. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out this process consisting essentially of an installation (1) for separating organic constituents from the process mixture, a vacuum evaporation installation (4) for partial drying of the mineral salts or mixtures thereof, an installation (5) for heat treating the partly dried mineral salts or mixtures thereof from the vacuum evaporation installation (4), a condensor (7) for condensing the moisture vapour from the vacuum evaporation installation (4) and an installation (9) for reverse osmosis of the condensate, as well as suitable transport devices between these components.</p> |
