An electron collector for use in tubes, particularly in aircraft systems, has an external metal tube (1) that fits onto a ceramic tube (2). Within the ceramic tube are electrodes (3,4,5) of copper and the tube is vacuum sealed. One electrode (6) is in the form of a tube that is formed into a cone shaped section with an aperture.
