PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of detection by using reflectors having a specific particle size or above and a high polymer binder to form a reflecting layer provided on the surface of a rectangular parallelopiped Bi4Ge3O12 crystal connected to the incident window of a photoelectron multiplier exclusive of the surface thereof connected to the photoelectron multiplier. CONSTITUTION:The rectangular parallelopiped Bi4Ge3O12 crystal 2 is connected to the incident window 1a of the photoelectron multiplier 1. The reflecting layer 3 is provided on the surface of the crystal 2 exclusive of the surface connected to the multiplier 1. This reflecting layer 3 is constituted of the reflectors and the high polymer binder. The energy resolving powder at the time of scintillation is increased if the average particle size of the reflecting layer 3 is confined to <=0.8mum. The average particle size is preferably confined to 0.8 to 2.5mum. The quantity of the scintillation light to be emitted of the crystal 2 does not decrease and an excellent adhesive property is obtd. if a synthetic coating compd. of an acrylic resin system is used as the high polymer binder. The generation of a cracking, etc., is thus obviated.
