PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of screw shafts and nuts and achieve longer life by minimizing the inertia of movable parts by using liquid pressure cylinders in the roll positioning of the vertical rolling mills. CONSTITUTION:In the roll positioning device of the vertical rolling mills which roll a rolling material in its width direction, the nuts 11 screwing to screw shafts 6 are slidably fitted in the nut housing parts 19 of a housing 5. The recesses 20 which engage the nuts 11 and pawls 10 are so formed as to permit the movement of the nuts 11 by required stroke. Oil grooves 21 are provided in the inside circumferential surface of the nuts 11. A hole 26 which a screw shaft 6 freely goes in and out is provided in the central part of a cylinder body 25 and piston chambers 27 are made around the hole. Pistons 28 are slidably fitted into the piston chambers 27 and their ends are let to contact the nuts 11. Thence, the screw shafts 6 are moved to roughly determine the position of the roll 2 and fine positioning of the roll is next done by applying oil pressure to the piston chambers 28 and moving the nuts 11. |
