The present invention concerns a spade comprising a shaft 1, a blade 2 of aluminium and attachment means 4, 5, 6, 8 for attaching the shaft to the blade. In order for the spade to be light in weight, but still sturdy, and to ensure that the costs of manufacturing the spade are low, the spade according to the invention is characterized in that the attachment means comprise a steel plate part 4 which from behind supports that end of the blade 2 directed towards the shaft 1, the shape of which steel plate part essentially matches the shape of the said end, in that the shaft 1 is made of steel and is welded to the steel plate part 4, in that the steel plate part is bent in parts 5, 6 across the edge 7 to that end of the blade directed towards the shaft, so that the said edge is at least partially located between the bent across part or parts 5, 6 of the steel plate part and the steel plate part. <IMAGE>
