PURPOSE:To increase stability and exchange efficiency by using meldola blue as an electron carrier in a glucose biological battery and a glucose sensor. CONSTITUTION:A phosphoric acid buffer solution is put in a container 13 as an electrolyte solution 15, and 24mM glucose and 200muM meldola blue are dissolved therein. Nitrogen gas 17 is blown into the solution 15 through a bubbler 16 to deaerate, and graphite adsorbed with glucose oxidase is put in the solution as a cathode 18. An electrolyte solution 15' same as the solution 15 is put in a container 14, then it is connected to the container 13 with a salt bridge 20, and a platinum black electrode is put in the solution 15' as an anode 19. When a variable resistor R, An ammeter A, and a voltmeter V are connected between electrodes 18, 19, a battery shows an open circuit voltage of about 480mV and a short circuit current of 2.2muA/cm<2>. By using meldola blue, oxidation-reduction potential is low, exchange efficiency is high, and decomposition resistance and stability are increased. |
