The purpose of the solution is a more effective evaluation of the by-products of cyclohexanone production by oxidation of cyclohexane and reduction of material and energy demands when preparing the final organic solvents and/or paint thinners or their components. The above mentioned solution is reached in the following manner: As an organic solvent and/or paint thinner or their components, a hydrogen by-product of cyclohexanone production by cyclohexane oxidation is used. It contains mostly alcohols C1 to C6 in the amount corresponding to 14 to 30% weight of hydroxyl groups, carbonyl compounds C2 to C6 in the amount corresponding to less than 2% weight of carbonyl groups, unsaturated organic compounds with a not longer than a six-membered carbon strand in the amount corresponding to the brome number lower than 10 g Br/100 g of hydrogenate and to 1 to 12% weight of water.
