Unsaturated aminodicarboxylic acid derivatives of formula (I) <IMAGE> in which A represents a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical with 2 carbon atoms and R1 and R2 independently of each other represent free or esterified carboxyl groups, and their salts possess an outstanding and selective antagonistic effect on excitatorial amino acid receptors sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartic acid. They are prepared for example by converting Z3 in a compound of formula II <IMAGE> in which Z1 and Z2 stand for optionally protected hydroxyl and Z3 represents protected amino, into amino and, if present, protected hydroxyl Z1 and/or Z2 into hydroxy, and if desired converting one compound obtained into another compound of formula I, an isomeric mixture obtainable using this method being separated into the components and the particular preferred isomer being separated out and/or a free compound obtainable using this method being converted into a salt or a salt obtainable using this method being converted into the free compound. |
