The device includes a transistor 2 whose collector-emitter path is intended to be connected in series with the armature winding of the motor 1, between the two poles of a direct-current voltage supply 3, a sensor 4 providing a signal indicative of the current flowing in the collector-emitter path of the transistor 2, and a current-regulator circuit 5,10 including an amplifier 5 with a first input 5a for a control signal, a second input 5b connected to the current sensor 4, and an output connected to the transistor 2 for regulating the current flowing in the collector-emitter path in dependence on the control signal and on the signal provided by the current sensor 4.
