The daisy wheel is rotated by a stepping motor into a position where the selected type character is struck by a hammer. A hammer solenoid and drives for the stepping motor and ribbon motor, carriage motor and paper feed motor are controlled by a CPU with a program memory and data memory. The CPU calculates the number of steps of the stepping motor required to bring up the character selected at a keyboard. A timer is set to lengthen or shorten the solenoid operation delay in accordance with the number.
