Apparatus intended to be held manually forming a mower with a rotary blade driven electrically for cutting grass in complete safety and in particular in places of difficult access, characterised in that it consists of a cutting blade 2 turning in a protection housing 1, of a tube 4 forming a handle, in which a transmission shaft 5 passes, at the upper end of which holding means are arranged, which make it possible to receive a driving motor; said means comprises on the one hand a handgrip 8 arranged transversely in front of the motor block so as to be spaced by approximately 110 to 120 mm in relation to the axis of the handle and close to the centre of gravity of the whole, and on the other hand a handgrip 9 arranged perpendicularly or obliquely in relation to the axis behind the handgrip 8, and in the lower part of the motor. In the event of utilisation of a low tension direct current motor, the supply can be effected by means of a storage battery fixed to a belt 12 worn by the user, thus allowing considerable autonomy. <IMAGE>
