PURPOSE:To accurately calculate the current position of the vehicle by storing information regarding the direction and information regarding the current position and correcting the information regarding the current position according to a corrected direction detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A position calculating means 5 calculates the current position of the vehicle successively from the direction information from a direction detecting means 1 and the distance information from a distance detecting means j3. Further, when an error occurs in the means 1 owing to vehicle body magnetization, etc., the direction information and the information regarding the current position are stored in a storage means 7 in order. A correcting means 9 detects and corrects the error of the means 1. When the means 9 corrects the means 1, a recalculating means 11 detects the current position by recalculating the position successively by using the information regarding the correction and the information regarding the direction which is stored in the means 7. Consequently, even when an error in the direction that an earth magnetism sensor indicates is generated owing to the vehicle body magnetization, the current position of the vehicle can accurately be detected. |
