Rod-shaped pellets have a core comprising a mixture of glass fibres and polypropylene fibres and a thermoplastic polymer sleeve. The glass fibres extend in the longitudinal direction of the pellet and are as long as the pellet. The polypropylene (I) of the fibres has a melt index at 230 deg C/2.16 kg of 5-500 dg/minute and a density of at least 900 kg/m and is a homopolymer or a random copolymer with less than 10 wt.% ethylene, 4-10C alpha-olefin or 4-10C diene. At least 50 wt.% of the sleeve is polypropylene (II) which has a melt index of 1-200 dg/minute and a density of at least 900 kg/m and is a homopolymer, a random copolymer with less than 10 wt.% ethylene, 4-10C ~a-olefin or 4-10C diene, or a block copolymer with up to 27 wt.% ethylene or butene and up to 8 wt.% 5-10C ~a-olefin or 4-10C diene.
