Blowing box intended for use for pocket ventilation and/or in the drying part of the paper machine to prevent phenomena that have an interfering effect on mutual contact between web W and a fabric like a drying wire 13, especially to prevent an overpressure from being formed in the gaps bounded by the fabric 13 and cylinder 12 or the roll surface, i.e., nip N+. The blowing box 20 extends over the entire width of web W and is connected to devices that produce blowing air and is equipped with at least one nozzle opening 27a, 27b that is transversely directed relative to the running and longitudinal direction of the web. To reduce bending on the elongated blowing box 20, the blowing box 20 is supported in addition to its end supports 35a, 36a, 35b, 36b also with one or more arrangements of support devices 30a, 30b, 30c, 30d whose rotating support rolls and/or slide shoes are supported against the opposite free cylinder or roll surface.
