PURPOSE:To enable a higher speed flaw detection with a shorter processing time for material to be inspected by providing an attachment, not parallel with the surface of the material to be inspected, between an ultrasonic vibrator and an acoustic binding material. CONSTITUTION:An attachment 7, not parallel with the surface of material to be inspected, is provided between an ultrasonic vibrator 4 for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and water as sound binding material 2 to allow the shortening of a repetition time of a transmission pulse by utilizing an attenuation level of an ultrasonic wave transmitted through the attachment 7. A surface coating is applied on an outer surface 8 of the attachment by a material of an acoustic impedance intermediate between the acoustic impedance of the attachment and the acoustic impedance of water as binding material. This increases a sound pressure of an ultrasonic wave directed to the material 3 to be inspected, thereby enhancing sensitivity of reflected wave. |
