The switch has an insulating housing with an arc extinction chamber receiving a stack of arc extinction plates (4) and a funnel-shaped pre-chamber (3c) receiving the contacts. The inside face (3a) of the pre-chamber (3c) hasa a pair of ribs (3d,3e) in the opening plane of the pivoted contact lever (5b), wioth the spaced between them filled with a series of evenly spaced cylindrical cones (3f) to define a narrow path for the switching arc (9). The gas press preceding the arc (9) is released via the flow channels (8) between the columns.
