The system consists of a cassette (4) and an analog recorder (1) comprising analog magnetic heads (15) with which analog information can be recorded in and/or read from longitudinal tracks on a magnetic tape (5) accommodated in the cassette. The system can also comprise a digital recorder (2) having digital magnetic heads (25) with which digital information can be recorded in and/or read from longitudinal tracks. The digital and analog recorders are compatible with each other to such an extent that the analog information recorded by the latter can at least be read with the digital magnetic heads of the former.
