PURPOSE:To efficiently reduce or remove the nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas by blowing ammonia into an exhaust pipe, and passing the exhaust gas through the bent-pipe part of the exhaust pipe leading to a catalyst bed along with the ammonia. CONSTITUTION:The nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas are brought into contact with the denitrification-catalyst bed 5, and removed using ammonia. In this case, ammonia is blown into the exhaust pipe 2, and then the exhaust gas and ammonia are passed through the bent-pipe part 2a of the exhaust pipe 2 leading to the catalyst bed 5. As a result, the nitrogen oxides and ammonia in the exhaust gas are uniformly, easily, and stably mixed without deteriorating the function of each output engine, hence the nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas are removed or reduced, and the discharge of ammonia causing secondary pollution is also reduced. |
