In order to keep the temperature losses of the continuously cast stock on the way to the rolling mill as low as possible, not only suitable heat-insulating measures are important but also short transport paths and times. For hot and/or direct use of continuously cast thin slabs with offcut lengths of up to 60 m or more, special measures are required to keep the temperature losses within limits. Thus, thin slabs for example are brought to and maintained at rolling temperature in a compensating oven arranged between continuous casting plant and rolling train. Continuous casting plant, compensating oven and rolling train are arranged in one and the same transport line. In order to bring the continuously cast thin slabs into rolling line, special additional transport devices are necessary. According to the invention, the feeding of the continuously cast stock into the rolling mill is achieved in a particularly simple, space- and cost-saving manner by the fact that a roller table (5) is arranged between the compensating ovens (1, 2, 3, 13, 14, 15) and the rolling mill (4) and is rotatably mounted on an underlying structure (6, 17). <IMAGE>
