PURPOSE:To improve the tracking control by providing plural information tracks in parallel tilted in the lengthwise direction with respect to the optical tape, and a recording bit for tracking control to the head of each information track to increase the percentage of the volume of an information recording area and eliminate the need for a guide slot requiring high accuracy processing. CONSTITUTION:Information tracks 22a - 22e are formed in a tilt direction around a track axis center line 23 are formed respectively to the optical tape 21 and tracking control bits 24, 25 are provided at both sides while clipping the center line 23 and information recording bits 26a - 26f are formed on the center line 23. Thus, the tape 21 is loaded to a magnetic recording and reproducing device, driven in the direction of the arrow A and the light beam from a light source of the recording and reproducing device is scanned obliquely in the direction of the arrow C from the upper end to the lower end of the tape 21. That is, the light beam from a light source of the recording and reproducing device is scanned obliquely in the direction of the arrow C from the upper end to the lower end of the tape 21, the information tracks 22a - 22e are directed in the direction C, and one track length is made longer as an angle thetabetween the directions A and C is parted from 90 deg. to increase the number of bits and a guard band is not eliminated between tracks. |
