PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption by making a vertical line scanning frequency higher than a horizontal field frequency. CONSTITUTION: A scanning direction change circuit 22 is provided which linearly scans a scanning part in the vertical direction and is suitable for field constitution of plural vertical scanning lines and has the vertical line scanning frequency, which is at least 200 times as high as the horizontal field frequency, and is provided with a video signal processing part 21 which receives picture information to successively assign it to picture elements on a vertical scanning line. Consequently, the scanning direction is changed, and scanning lines are scanned with the highest scanning frequency, namely, the linear scanning frequency in the vertical direction preferably from top to bottom and are scanned with the lowest scanning frequency, namely, the field scanning frequency in the horizontal direction preferably from left to right. Thus, the power consumption is reduced. |
