Self-extinguishing gas-electronic switches (pseudo-spark switches)

Gas-electronic switches (pseudo-spark switches) exhibit the property (when they are operated at a reduced gas pressure) of extinguishing on zero crossings of the current, so that they can be used as self-extinguishing switches. Two embodiments exist. On the one hand, the striking and extinguishing path is introduced by means of the switch in the circuit through a mechanical movement, while on the other hand a rigid switch can be triggered and exhibits automatic extinguishing at the current zero crossing, Fig. 1, upper part, illustrates the moving switch. <IMAGE>
