The present invention comprises the encapsulation of a sweetening agent in a coating material including a hydrophobic polymer and a hydrophobic plasticizer and chewing gum composition containing said sweetening agent. The encapsulated sweetening agent is protected from deterioration due to moisture and provides controlled release of sweetener in products intended to be chewed during consumption. |
