PURPOSE:To increase the output of light discharged in a specified wavelength range by charging a non-electrode electric-discharge lamp with a starting rare gas, specified amounts per 1cm<3> internal volume of the lamp of mercury and a halogen, and a specified amount per 1cm<3> the said volume of metallic vapor consisting of at least one metal element chosen from among Dy, Ho, Tm and Sc. CONSTITUTION:A spherical non-electrode electric-discharge lamp, which is lit in a microwave electromagnetic field, is charged with 0.5X10<-5>-5.5X10<-5>g-atom per 1cm<3> internal volume of the lamp of mercury, 1.5X10<-7>-6.2X10<-6>g-atom per 1cm<3> the above volume of a halogen, 0.5X10<-7>-6X10<-7>g-atom per 1cm<3> the above volume of metallic vapor consisting of at least one metal element chosen from among Dy, Ho, Tm and Sc, and a starting rare gas such as argon. As a result, the output of light discharged in the wavelength range of 350-450mm. can be increased, the stability time of the lamp can be shortened, and the life of the lamp can be lengthened. |
