The invention relates to an electrical apparatus having a plug connector which is accessible through an apparatus housing wall, has contact pins or contact sockets which are held in an insulating body and has an electrically conductive casing which encloses the insulating body. Slots result at the point at which the plug connector passes through the front panel, as a result of unavoidable manufacturing tolerances. These slots must be electrically sealed by simple means. A contact element is proposed for this purpose, having first spring tongues which are arranged on its edge and rest on the inside of the housing wall, and which contact element is fitted with second spring tongues, which rest on the casing, at the edge of the opening through which the casing of the plug connector passes.
