CONSTITUTION:The first ignition timing setting means C setting the ignition timing toward the optimum ignition timing in response to the signal from a knocking detector B in the operational state controlling the ignition timing in response to knocking and the second ignition timing setting means D setting the ignition timing on the delay side than the optimum ignition timing in the operational state not controlling the ignition timing in response to knocking are provided. The third ignition timing setting means E setting the ignition timing between the first ignition timing and the second ignition timing is provided, the second control means F detects the transition time of operation from the ignition timing setting means C to the ignition timing setting means D, and an ignition timing control means A is driven with the ignition timing set by the ignition timing setting means E so that the ignition timing is gradually changed from the first ignition timing to the second ignition timing.
