PURPOSE:To easily and accurately position and couple a channel type light guide and optical fibers by using a silicon block which is provided with grooves of the width to accommodate the optical fibers at both ends and a groove of the width equiv. to the width of the channel type light guide in an intermediate part. CONSTITUTION:The grooves 6 to be fitted therein with the optical fibers are provided at both ends of the silicon block 5 and the groove 7 to be fitted therein with the channel type light guide 1 is provided in the intermediate part. The channel type light guide 1 is fitted into the groove 7 for the channel type light guide and the optical fibers 3 are fitted into the grooves 6 for the optical fibers. The end faces of the channel type light guide 1 and the end faces of the optical fibers 3 are joined and are fixed in this joined state. The light guide 1 and the optical fibers 3 are easily and accurately positioned and coupled in this way without subjecting the channel type light guide 1 to any processing at all. |
