PURPOSE:To discriminate whether a recording head to be mounted is suitable or not by previously studying the operating characteristics of a lagging heater and a temperature sensor, both of which are parts remarkably indicating characteristics that recording heads posses. CONSTITUTION:When the turn-on of a power source for a recorder is detected, a heater driver 8A is driven for a prescribed length of time, 10sec, for instance, and a lagging heater 8 is energized. A value detected by the temperature sensor 2 is read out, is compared with a prescribed temperature range stored in a RAM and is judged to be within the range or not. If so, the lagging heater 8 and the temperature sensor 2 are judged to display appropriate characteristics, and a flag indicating a recording action enable condition is set to terminate the operation. If the detected value is not within the range, the lagging heater 8 and the temperature sensor 2 are judged to be inappropriate, and a flag indicating a recording action unable condition is set to terminate the operation. Operating characteristics are studied in such a way to judge whether each recording head mounted on the device main body is suitable or not. |
