The device has a housing frame (3) with a membrane (7) stretched across it on one side. The opposing housing base (15) has a circular zone (17) of reduced thickness enclosing a central zone (13) which projects as far as the top edge (1) of the housing frame (3), supporting a plate (9) which rests against the underside of the membrane (7). The peripheral edge of the plate (9) lies at a defined axial distance (5) from a shoulder (21) projecting from the housing frame (3). Pref. the latter distance (5) is less than the axial movement without plastics deformation of the pressure measuring zone (17). ADVANTAGE - Provides overload protection.
