PURPOSE:To contrive reduced image electric signals and high-speed response as well as improved durability of electrodes by a method wherein the shape of the electrode is optimumly determined, and the areas of a pair of electrodes are determined at a size more than a fixed ratio. CONSTITUTION:A recording electrode 1 shaped into a rectangle has a dimension (a) in parallel to a common electrode 2 and a width (b). Alternatively, a recording electrode shaped into a circle similarly has a minor axis (a) in parallel to the common electrode and a major axis (b). The area of the recording electrode 1 is S1, and the area of the common electrode is S2. The density of electric line of force becomes higher at a position nearer to a counter electrode; thus, the eluation of metallic ions is increased, and durability cannot be obtained. In the case of b/a=2, the distribution of the density of electric line of force on the electrode surface is decreased, but in the case of b/a=0.5, the distribution of electric line of force is large, and durability cannot be obtained with a significant electrode deterioration. Therefore, by establishing b/a>=1, a bubble on the electrode surface is limited relatively large, a margin of a discharge energy is obtained, and durability is also obtained because of a small damage of the electrode. |
