PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition useful for the treatment of hyponatremia of a mammal by compounding a specific aza-cyclic or isoquinoline derivative. CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by compounding a compound of formula I [A together with N forms (CH2 )p (p=3-6), or A is a (substituted) tetrahydroisoquinoline ring; R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 2-6C alkynyl or a 3-6C cycloalkyl, etc., or together form a 2-6C polymethylene or a 2-6C alkenylene; Rx is H, a 1-6C alkyl or phenyl, or together with R1 forms (CH2 )3-4 ; R is a carbocyclic or a heterocyclic aromatic group] or formula II [Ra is a 1-6C alkyl or phenyl; Rb is H or together with Ra forms (CH2 )n (n=1-3); Het is a heterocyclic group of a single ring or a fused ring containing 5-12 ring- atoms and <=4 hetero atoms (O, S or N)]. e.g. (2S)-1-(3,4- dichlorophenylacetyl)-2-(1-pyrrolidinylmethyl)piperidine, or its salt or solvate.
