发明名称 THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MEDIUM
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a transfer image having no density irregularity and excellent in friction resistance by respectively incorporating specific wax, a specific polystyrene resin and a specific thermoplastic resin in a thermal transfer ink layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer ink layer is provided on a heat-resistant support. The thermal transfer ink layer contains at least wax having a penetration (JIS K2235) of 4 or less and an m.p. or softening point of 130 deg.C or lower, a polystyrene resin having an m.p. or softening point of 70-140 deg.C and a thermoplastic resin represented by formula (I) (wherein n is an integer of 50<n<1000). When the penetration of the wax is 4 or more, the friction resistance of an ink surface is lowered and, when the m.p. or softening point thereof is higher than 130 deg.C, heat energy required in transfer becomes high and voids are generated in a transfer image and the fixability of ink becomes inferior. The thermoplastic resin has an m.p. in the vicinity of 60 deg.C regardless of its MW and, since the latent heat of fusion thereof is also low, heat sensitivity becomes sharp and effect is developed in the film forming properties of the ink layer, the transfer properties to resin coat paper and the dispersibility of pigment.
