PURPOSE:To improve strength and oil resistance by coating the surfaces of expanded graphite granules with elastomer or this elastomer and thermosetting resin. CONSTITUTION:Expanded graphite granules are immersed in a soln. prepd. by dissolving elastomer such as NBR, 1-30wt.% sulfur basing on the amt. of the elastomer and 0.1-15wt.% vulcanization accelerator such as tetramethylthiuram disulfide in a solvent such as acetone or by further dissolving 0.5-20wt.% thermosetting resin basing on the amt. of the granules. The immersed granules are dried to obtain an expanded graphite composite material. This composite material is subjected to hot press molding at 120-170 deg.C to obtain a flexible graphite material or it is subjected to hot press molding at 120-170 deg.C after putting on one side or both sides of a metal sheet, a wire net or a fibrous sheet to obtain a gasket material. |
